The National Association of Margarine Manufacturers (NAMM) is a non-profit trade association formed in 1936. For 60 years, NAMM has been serving health conscious consumers and the margarine industry.
The margarine industry has been a pioneer in meeting consumer needs and preferences with respect to taste, convenience, good nutrition and health.
Innovations include voluntary nutrition labeling for many years before labeling became mandatory and offering a wide variety of products, many of which have reduced levels of fat. In response to today's health-conscious consumer, the average fat content of margarine has decreased by 30 percent -- from 80 percent in 1980 to 56 percent today.
